Its been about a year since my last post. I'm not sorry. Well, my girlfriend has left me, to learn about children in the real world. I have been pretty bored as of late, and need something to past the time, make the "single" life a little easier. Beer doesn't help, but it makes me forget the lonely feeling, if only for a few minutes.
The company I work for (Specialty Imports) has recently picked up a fist full of new products. Being the dedicated and drink loving employee that I am, I have decided to review a few.
First up is a small brewery from Belgium named Sara. I don't know much about the brewery, but the style is a "buckwheat" ale. Its color is that of a Juneau hillside in the fall, dark deep brown with a ruby hue of decaying plant matter. Speaking of plant matter, the beer had a heavy sediment, that I would describe as "chunky" and white in color. It reminds me of gunk at the bottom of a bag a "magic" mushrooms.
The Retention of the head was lasting and very rocky in appearance, big bubbles with tiny pieces of sediment suspended. A dirty white, not unlike my former nieghbors in the North Douglas trailer park, made up the color of head.
Upon smelling the nose, I was surprised to find a very sour start, not unlike a mild Sour Flemish Ale. Followed by slightly sweet roasted malt, and a little paint thinner. Sounds weird huh? Well it was, but I wasn't afraid. When I put it in my mouth (that's what she said?) it tingled with twang, like putting a penny in your mouth, then touching a nine-volt battery to the tongue, and sucking on a cut finger, all in unison. This beer will take you for a ride. The mouth-feel was pretty intense, with a high carbonation and some serious slickness on the palate. All in all, this is not the type of beer you would have for breakfast. Its more like a very rich piece of dark chocolate, for after a meal.
Well that's all the time I have today, look out for more to come!

Wall of Beer
The great wall of liquid courage is near completion. The final bottles have arrived to Kenny's liquor, and will up and priced on the Thursday. I have tasted and reviewed almost all the staple selections and will slowly be uploading them to this blog. Keith and I will be trying to rotate in new seasonal and import selections in the future.
Other than the obvious reason of alcoholism, I truly have enjoyed trying to expand my palate. Trying to break down smells and tastes, and describing them has become quite the hobby. As you will notice some of my descriptions will not be that of a true beer nerd, but how I can relate to them. Smells and tastes are strongly tied to memory, so watch out for some personal history.
Already I can tell this will be a good outlet for me, since I haven't written in sometime.
By the way, on a side note there will be a Blazer Club meeting tonight @ 9:00 pm, Alaskan Bar. Beau and I will be on the radio in about an hour, 100.7 fm. Peace

Mission Statement
This is mainly for my record keeping, of beer consumed and rated. As you already know, your palate and mine are completely different. That noted, everything forthcoming from this blog will be a semi-educated guess in the general direction of beer judging. In the ever present words of Lavar Burton of Reading Rainbow fame, "Don't take my word for it".
